Model trainee at Reds now cutting it as a stylist

A FORMER hairdressing apprentice who has modelled for L’Oréal Hair campaigns, is proving she can cut it on both sides of the camera after being appointed as a stylist to offer clients at Reds the latest trends.

AFTER years of modelling in front of the camera, Georgia Kirven, pictured above, is one step closer to her dream of creating hairstyles behind the scenes of some of the UK’s biggest hair shows, now she has been made a stylist at one of the North-East’s top salons.

Having left school in 2012, Georgia started her career a Saturday worker and went on to complete a three year NVQ course in Hairdressing with Sunderland based Reds, an award winning hair and beauty specialist with over 30 years of expertise in the industry.

Following training funding and ongoing support from Reds, the special occasion stylist is now attracting a regular stream of clients and boasts a strong portfolio of skills, after completing an advanced cutting and colour course through L’Oréal and recently training with hair extension specialist, Hairaiser, to become one of two stylist at the salon to offer the service.

Georgia has featured on catwalks up and down the country including L’Oréal Colour Trophy grand final in London and most recently worked behind the scenes to represent her salon at the Miss Sunderland 2015 pageant.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to go down the fashion hair route so modelling for Reds provided a great opportunity to experience the other side of the spectrum. I was able to meet some of the UK’s top professional stylists and see exactly what skills would be needed to work at a busy hair show.

“I love the freedom to be creative and since becoming a stylist and completing courses to boost my portfolio, I’ve been able to offer my clients a range of services. The team has been really supportive, offering advice along the way.”

Susan Hall, owner of Reds, said: “I’m delighted Georgia has progressed to become a fully-fledged stylist as she brings a wealth of talent to the salon.

“I take great pleasure in teaching young recruits, as not only is great to see your employees strengthen their skills, it also helps to refresh my own. We strive to stay at the forefront of each season’s latest trend and Georgia is a great advocate of that. I’m sure she will have a very successful career in the hair industry.”
