The Olde Young Tea House launches Sleeping BrewTea with Camerons Brewery
Five years ago she came back to Middlesbrough to follow her dream of creating the first tea shop of its kind in the North-East. Her thriving business which blends hospitality with a vintage twist resulted in her moving into larger premises next door on Grange Road last year, where she offers more than 60 world teas as well as sumptuous food.
The entrepreneur also writes a popular lifestyle blog, The Tea Bee, featuring beauty, food, recipes, fashion, music and reviews which also sells products from its Etsy shop. She is appearing again on Channel 4’s cookery show, Sunday Brunch, over Christmas and her business was named the national independent of the year. But she’s taken diversification one step further by collaborating with Hartlepool-based Camerons Brewery on a unique beverage.
The cask beer has been given the name Sleeping BrewTea as the 4.4% ABV American style session pale ale has been infused with Sleeping Beauty green tea. The tea has distinctive aromas of rose and raspberry which balance with the copper coloured hoppy ale.
Carli, pictured above with Yousef Doubooni, marketing manager at Camerons, said: “Tea is a drink that is enjoyed socially with friends and family just like ale so this is perfect combination, not to mention I am partial to a beer or two myself.
“We have been crowned Independent Shop of the Year for the whole nation which we are extremely proud about. We are a traditional yet unique independent tea house with a variety of both classic and unusual teas, not forgetting various scrumptious cakes, scones and sandwiches.”

“Collaborating with Camerons brewing up Sleeping BrewTea with our most popular green tea is a dream come true. Independents supporting independents is something we are super passionate about.”
Camerons, celebrating their 150th anniversary, have announced details of their 2016 cask guest ale range and Sleeping BrewTea is an integral part of this portfolio as the brewery looks to more modern flavour combinations in its beer portfolio.
Yousef added: “We are thrilled to be working with Carli on this exciting beer and tea combination. She has developed The Olde Young Tea House into a hugely successful business and we were delighted we could collaborate on this project.
“We were amazed by the fantastic selection of teas available and thanks to Carli’s expertise alongside our Head Brewer, Martin Dutoy, we were able to identify a blend that we felt would complement our pale ale brew. We have some great beers lined up for next year but this is one of our most interesting and innovative ales in our range.”
A trial version of the beer has been brewed and will be sampled across Camerons pubs including The Head of Steam. The full production of the beer will start in April and will be sold nationally during May 2016.
