Designer childrenswear by Manouchehri – as individual as they are

AS a fashion design student Roya Manouchehri imagined launching a women’s evening wear label but when she spotted a gap in the market for elegant children’s clothes, her brand was born.

Growing up in the Northumberland countryside, Roya used to love dressing up as a child and was always jotting her designs down in a notebook. Family holidays to Italy only heightened her desire to one day own her own business and she went on to study Fashion Design at Northumbria University.

While researching childrenswear she identified a neglected market, in which she decided there was not a great deal of elegant children’s clothing available. She has a scrupulous eye for detail and an addiction to creating timeless, classical clothes which are beautifully made.

Her Manouchehri label now boasts several different ranges including ready to wear,  equestrian and bridal as well as pieces for younger customers who are no less style conscious.

“What separates our brand from others is that we do not believe in mass production, from garments being made as a one-off, our ready to wear ranges may only contain a maximum of 10 dresses in one style ever created, the idea behind this is so that children don’t all look the same,” she said.

“We are currently in the process of creating a ready to wear collection of page boy garments, which will be very traditional, the suit I’m creating at the moment consists of tartan trousers and a velvet waistcoat and blazer.

“We are known for our classical style and ability to communicate childhood innocence through our timeless designs,” Roya added.

“All our garments are designed and made in the North-East. We pride ourselves in our attention to detail and superior construction, our garments are made to last.”
