Flower arranging blossoms in Durham Market Hall

AWARD-winning florist Rebecca Hough has launched DeVita Floral Craft in Durham Market Hall to teach flower arranging with a modern twist with workshops from hanging baskets to headbands, writes Emma Hignett.

Despite blossoming as a rising star in floristry for many years, Rebecca’s Durham Market Hall stall is her first retail space. From there, offers a range of fresh flowers and plants, and can organise arrangements of any size, from individual corsages, posies and bouquets, to wedding flowers and arrangements for events.

Her accolades to date include being named as the Interflora Florist of the Future 2013. The following year, together with four other young florists, Rebecca worked on the Gold Medal winning Interflora display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

She also won 1st Place and Best in Show at Harrogate Flower Show for three consecutive years from 2012 to 2014, and in November 2015 won 1st Place at the NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arranging Societies) National Show. She is a qualified NAFAS demonstrator.

Rebecca commented: “I’ve started my workshops this month, and am enjoying helping people pick up the skills required to make stand out arrangements. We’re all keen to make our homes as beautiful as possible, and unique flower arrangements can be asset. Come along and join the workshops, and of course you can take your creations home away with you. Additionally, the skills you pick up will last a lifetime.”

Colin Wilkes, Managing Director of Durham Market Hall, added: “Rebecca is a remarkable florist, and we’re thrilled to have her here in Durham Market Hall. It’s wonderful that she’s keen to share her knowledge, and these workshops are genuinely an opportunity to learn from one of the best in the region.”
