Made By Marianne jewellery designer sparkles with talent
TRAINED journalist Marianne Robson is now using her creativity to make bespoke jewellery with pearls and semi-precious gemstones.
Originally from Norway, Made by Marianne draws inspiration from the stunning scenery of her home country, glaciers and frozen lakes to deep, blue fjords, green forests and the vibrant colours of the Northern Lights.[huge_it_gallery id=”30″]
Her hobby turned into a thriving business after she struggled to find co-ordinating jewellery to match an outfit.
“Clear quartz is one of my favourite gemstones. I don’t know if it’s because quartz is my birthstone, but I love the way it sparkles and it reminds me of snow and ice. Especially crackled quartz looks like snowballs glistening in the sun,” explained Marianne who uses 925 sterling silver or copper wire/findings..
“Although I use quality pearls, gemstones and precious metals, my jewellery is affordable – so nobody is excluded from wearing it,” explained Marianne who met her husband Dave, a reporter at The Gazette, while they were studying journalism at Darlington College and the couple has two teenage children.
I also take commissions so people can come to me with a dress and ask me to make something to match it. I do commissions for bridal jewellery as well, and customers can also help design a special gift for a friend or family member.”
Marianne trades at fairs as well as through her own website and Etsy shop. The designer also hosts jewellery parties where she gives 10 per cent of her sales to the hostess or a charity of their choice.
She added: “As soon as I began creating my own jewellery, the more I wanted to work with and share the gifts Mother Nature provides in the form of glorious semi-precious gemstones and pearls.”
